4 Things You Need to Know About Elite Session 1

Reading, PA– Elite Session 1 starts today and there are a few things you need to know heading into the live recruiting period. First off, there will be a player for you at camp this week. No matter what level your school is, you will find a player fit for your team. Here’s what to look for heading into the live period:

Refresh Yourself With Some Familiar Faces

Elite Session 1 will feature some players who impressed us a summer ago at Elite Camp. There will be guys like Melo Eggleston (Clinton Christian ’17), David Beatty (Conwell Egan Catholic ’17) and Ejike Obinna (Virginia Academy ’17) who were all all-stars during Future All-American Camp last summer. Now they will enter a crucial live period as they head into their junior year, and they will no doubt have high major schools looking in on them.

Then there are players like Jair Bolden (Westtown ’16), Matt Bullock (Roselle Catholic ’16) and Kendrick Gray (Rice Memorial ’16) who look to enhance their recruiting heading into their senior years after making a splash at camp last summer. Bolden will look to show his ability to run a team as a point guard, Bullock possesses a freakishly strong build and good shot at the guard position, and Gray is a walking highlight tape waiting to happen. Look to hear these names a lot.

Kobe Gantz (JP McKaskey ’16), Stevie Jordan (Conwell Egan ’16), David Erebor (Mount Carmel ’17),  Mikey Dixon (Sanford School ’16), Bruce Moore (McDonogh ’16) and Cesear Dejesus (Impact Academy ’16) all other players who will return to Elite Camp looking to raise their Division 1 interest.

Introduce Yourself to the First Timers

There will be some new faces at camp this week as well as many returning ones. Chuba Ohams (Putnam Science ’16) is a 6’7 shooting guard who has received offers from DePaul, Providence and Iona, among others. He will be coming to Albright for the first time and should see a number of offers coming his way.

David Kachelries (Emmaus’ 17) will attend his first ‘Elite’ session after being a three time Future All-American attendee. David holds offers from Fordham and Binghamton now, but that won’t be the same after the live period.

Wing Walter Whyte (St. Luke’s ’17) and Geo Baker (Pinkerton Academy ’17) will be making names for themselves this week as they make their first Elite Camp experience

Keep an Eye Out on the Class of 2017…it’s Strong

If you’ve been keeping track (and no big deal if you haven’t), but a lot of players to look out for are 2017 candidates. Aside from the names we’ve mentioned, Taj -Malik Benning (Bergen Catholic ’17) and Jahlil Jenkins ( ’17) are two players in the class of 2017 who should be on coach’s radars. Benning is a 6’3 point guard who holds and offer from VCU and interest from mid majors. Jenkins, West Virginia native, is another point guard who is a capable scorer.

A couple of rising juniors from Wise High School in Maryland will catch the attention of coaches as well. Darron Barnes and Michael Speight had great years at Wise

Meanwhile, Jordan Pierce (Union Catholic ’17) is a 6’10 big that has flown under the radar thus far. This big has great potential and should receive his first scholarship offer this summer.

Look Out For the Young Guns

Keep an eye out on three 2018 players that have enormous ceilings already in their young careers. Vincent Lee (Paul VI ’18), Atiba Taylor (Hackensack ’18) and Luther Muhammad (Hudson Catholic ’18) will be names you’re going to hear a lot of as their high school and AAU careers progress. They will be hoping to make a name for themselves at Elite 1 this summer.

The names at Elite can go on and on. Elite Camp has made a name for itself in July and this year will only continue to support that claim. Coaches, this is definitely a must stop destination during your recruiting trip this week. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and on hoopgroup.com for updates on camp.
