Academic Elite 1 Preview: Jimmie Sanders III

Name: Jimmie Sanders
Class: 2017
High School: Neuse Charter
Height: 5’6

Jimmie Sanders has a knack for scoring the basketball. The North Carolina native averaged a league high 23 points per game last season as a sophomore. Adding to all those points, Sanders averaged just under 6 assists per game (5.9) and 1.7 steals. Both were also league highs.

When watching Jimmie play, it’s his shooting that standouts to most, but if you ask him, he might tell you otherwise. “I think it’s my handles and my quickness,” he told me in an interview. “I’m in the gym everyday working on my shot, but I think my handle and quickness is my best attribute.”

This offseason, Jimmie plans to get into the weight room as much as he’s in the gym. “I want to work on my strength. Get stronger so when I get into the lane, I can take some hits and still be able to finish.”

Jimmie’s recruiting is starting to heat up, and he’s hoping to have a strong summer to help generate some more interest. He was most recently at Campbell Team Camp and gained some interest from them after a strong performance. He also has been speaking with Longwood University and Albion.

This summer, Jimmie hopes to use Academic Session 1, as well as several AAU tournaments in Myrtle Beach, Georgia and Louisville to jump start his recruitment. Expect this 2017 player to make some noise.
