Andrew Bynum, Former Hoop Group Camper to Start on All Star Team

NBA Alum of the Week: Andrew Bynum/Los Angeles Lakers

Andrew Bynum has been elected the starting center for the Western Conference in this year’s All-Star Game. It is his first all star game appearance. The big man and former Hoop Group Elite camper is averaging 16.3 points and 12.6 rebounds a game for the Los Angeles Lakers. 

College Alum of the Week: Jayvaughn Pinkston/Villanova

Pinkston was tabbed as BIG EAST Rookie of the Week after he had game highs of 28 points and 14 rebounds in Villanova’s only game last week, a 74-72 come-from-behind win against Providence. Pinkston scored the last nine points of the game, including the game-winning basket with 24 seconds left, to help the Wildcats erase a 19-point second-half deficit. He shot 10-of-18 from the field and was 8-of-9 from the free throw line against the Friars.

High School Alum of the Week: Melvin Johnson/St. Benedicts HS(NJ)

Johnson and his team had big wins over the weekend over Lakewood HS & rival St. Patrick. The Miami bound guard led Benedicts with 26 points including 6 three pointers in the win over St. Patrick.



Girls Alum of the Week:Michaela Mabrey/Manasquan HS(NJ)

Mabrey led Manasquan to a victory over previously unbeaten St. Rose HS to improve Manasquan’s record to 21-0. Mabrey learned more good new recently in that she has been named a McDonald’s All American. She is the first female from the Jersey Shore Conference to receive this honr.

Jr Elite Alum of the Week:Lucas Hudon/Lehigh Valley Christian Acad(PA)

Hudson led his 7th grade team to the championship of the Lehigh Valley League by leading his team with game highs of 24 points and 8 assists. Lucas, who has been a camper at Hoop Group Skills Father Son Camps, Kevin Boyle Point Guard Camp and Hoop Group Elite Jr. Elite Camp finished the season averaging 20 points and 6 assists per game.
