LIVE Blog: Elite Session 3 Day One

SONY DSC2:15PM– With registration coming to a close and Elite session II ready to commence, it’s time to sit back and watch which players are going to #BeElite this week. Stations are set to begin at 2:30 followed by team scrimmages which are scheduled to start at 4:10. –@CabWashington

30PM- We are here watching stations in the Bollman Center as a few of our campers have caught our attention. #103, Juwan Chapman(Eagle Academy, New York, NY) is a lefty with a smooth jumpshot who just keeps on knocking down three pointers! Seriously, he has made his last five and is starting to stand out. It’s early in the week, but I’ve already got my eye on a few guys! –@JakerBaker58

05PM- Stations are wrapping up and we are approaching some five-on-five gameplay. Only scrimmages for the first day, but certainly a good look at what to expect for the rest of camp. Time to see who truly wants to be elite. –@AndrewKoob

25PM- As the scrimmages get underway, a few more players are starting to impress us. One of them is #23, Darren Belardo(Bishop Sullivan Catholic HS, Virginia Beach, VA), who has been hustling up and down the floor with reckless abandon. Even though Darren has missed a few shots, he has been extremely aggressive and definitely a player you love to have on your team. he’s starting to get the #BeElite mentality! –@JakerBaker58

10PM- Well into the scrimmages, like what Brady Busateri brings to the table. Always looks like he’s going 100 percent and, while only 6-foot-3, crashes the boards with purpose. –@AndrewKoob

50PM-Lionel Owona(John Carroll, Bel Air, MD) is a beast down low in the paint! We’re only a few hours into the first day but its already known that this guy is going to be one tough defensive assignment all week long! –@JakerBaker58

30PM- In our current stretch of games, rising Senior Juwan Dorsey(Newtown, Owings Mills, MD) has been playing solid basketball, doing the little things to help his team win. He’s constantly in the right position on offense, moving without the ball and setting solid screens. On defense, he’s playing smart, and rotating when the ball is moved. It’s obvious this guy knows how to #BeElite! –@JakerBaker58

05PM- John Batts (Metro-Lutheran, Il. 2015) and Patrick Benzan (Roxbury Latin School, Ma. 2015) have to be the quickest guards to hit the hardfloor this afternoon. They have similar games that feature a killer crossover and both have shown a knack for finding the open man and shooting runners in the lane. We seem to have a pair of Tony Parker sightings here at Elite III. It’s going to be interesting to see the two duke it out this week in a one-one-one matchup.-@CabWashington

00PM- Emanuel Petit-Frere(Valley North Stream, Franklin Square, NY) is another camper who is back for more after excelling at our previous camps. “Eman” is a tough defender and very hard worker, making him a tough matchup for anyone here at camp. Anytime you combine effort with good teaching, the product will be solid! That is what Emanuel is doing here tonight, showing that he will work hard and use the great coaching that he gets from the Hoop Group to become a solid all-around basketball player. Kid is quite the tweeter to, already jumping ahead in our Mr. Social updates! –@JakerBaker58

00PM- Its not only basketball here in Reading, Pennsylvania. There is also a Twitter Battle going on! This year, guys like Mikey Sheridan and Sal Ross have set the Tweet Bar for winning Mr. Social! Only the first nigh of camp, and we already have Emanuel Petit-Frere, Griffen Golden and a man who is just simply known as “Senor Social” battling it out on Twitter to see who gets the right to be named Mr. Social! This race is going to be exciting! But now its time for a special lecture from Coach Tobin Anderson, of St. Thomas Aquinas. Should be a treat for all in attendance! –@JakerBaker58

00PM- Wow! What a great first night from Elite 3 Camp! Coach Tobin Anderson did a great job of teaching the campers about technique, practice and drive, all important factors in the #BeElite attitude! We also had an early battle for the Mr. Social award! Looks like this week will be a tight race from start to end! Well that’s all for tonight. Be sure to check back in tomorrow for Day 2 of Elite 3 Camp! This should be a great week of basketball! The LIVE Blog is now CLOSED! –@JakerBaker58
