8:30AM Semifinals and championship games will be later on today, but first the consolation games will be tipping off soon. It’s going to be another day filled with hustle, grit and, of course, basketball. –@AndrewKoob

9:15AM- Another great day for basketball! To start our morning, we have a few Consolation games going on. A couple players of note, Philip Thompson(Largo, MD) has been one of the most exciting players of this tournament, diving after balls, performing some well-timed steals and pretty much doing all of the dirty work for his team. Even though they’re out of the running for the Championship, Largo has been one of the more impressive teams of the Tournament. On the court beside them, Manchild Mike Gesicki(Southern Regional, NJ) has gotten everyone’s attention these past few days. Even in their blow out loss in the Quarterfinals to Flint Hill, Mike was still the main event. This bruising Big Man is a three sport athlete, who made headlines as a Football Star as a Junior. The Rising Senior has an aggressive, relentless attitude, making highlight blocks and loud, thunderous dunks. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Ohio State Football Recruit broke a backboard on his next dunk! –@JakerBaker58

10:05AM- In our second set of consolation games, we have St. Anthony’s(NJ) taking on Archbishop Carroll(PA). Both teams had very strong days yesterday, but lost in the Quarterfinals of the National Division. Archbishop Carroll’s Ernest Aflakpui is a dominant Big Man in the paint and will make life difficult for St. Anthony’s if they choose to attack down low. For St. Anthony’s, Rising Sophomores Taurean Thompson and Jagan Mosely are the main focus of the team, showing that St. Anthony’s will be competitive for the next few years(again). –@JakerBaker58

10:45AM- In a very tight game, St. Anthony’s edged out Archbishop Carroll by 4 points thanks in part to two clutch free throws by sophomore Jimmy Panzini. And now we move onto the American Division Semifinals, where the very impressive Flint Hill(VA) will take on another Semifinalist, South Shore(NY), who is making their first appearance in the main gym during this Tournament. The Winner of this game will move onto the Finals of the American Division to face the Winner of Capital Prep(NJ) and The Potomac School(VA). Get excited! It’s #BeElite Time! –@JakerBaker58

11:20AM- South Shore leads Flint Hill 30-24 at halftime. For South Shore, Ryan Preston has carried the team, being a tough mismatch that Flint Hill has had trouble stopping. Flint Hill’s full court press has kept this game very tight, as they have forced turnovers at a high pace and have a lot of fast break points. –@JakerBaker58

12:00PM-. And Flint Hill moves on after a remarkable finish, 58-57! For Flint Hill, Senior Britton Anderson was solid on both ends of the floor and was a main reason that they have made it this far. With under 20 seconds left and down two points, Anderson converted a crucial three point play that won them the game. And for South Shore, Justin Silva was very consistent and was the go-to man on his team in this game. Flint Hill awaits the winner of the Potomac School-Capital Prep game, which is currently only a tied game with 8 minutes to play! Everyone in attendance sure is getting some entertaining basketball! Next up we have the National Semifinals, with Blair Academey(NJ) facing St. John’s(DC).-@JakerBaker58

12:15PM- As this American Semifinal comes to a close, The Potomac School walks away with the victory and a date with Flint Hill in the “All-Virginia” American Division Finals! For The Potomac School, Senior point guard Jalen Broome did a great job of setting the table all game long and was one of about nine contributors who helped Potomac move on. That Final is set to tip off at 2:20 PM. In our other Division, CBA takes on St. Peter’s Prep to see who will move on to the Finals of the National Division. The winner of that game will see the winner of this Blair Academy-St. John’s game, which is currently led by Blair by a mere six points. Plenty of great action left here today! –@JakerBaker58

1:00PM- Marial Shayok drops the hammer down and Blair academy leads St. John’s 60-48! Blair has been the team to beat in this tournament, which isn’t anything new to Shayok. The Big Canadian is looking for his second straight Elite Camp Championship after him and Blair Teammate Donovan Wright won the NBA East Championship in this past week’s Elite 2 Camp! With six minutes still to play, St. John’s and Darian Bryant still have time, but need to act fast! –@JakerBaker58

1:15PM– Great semifinal matchup between St. Peter’s Prep (N.J.) and Christian Brother’s Academy (N.J.) going on here at Bollman 1. St. Peter’s Prep holds a 55-43 with just under three minutes remaining in the contest. Austin White is having a monster game for the Prep while Patrick Andree is leading CBA. –@CabWashington

1:35PM- The Semifinals are complete, as Blair Academy(NJ) defeats St. John’s, 75-72. Blair will face St. Peter’s Prep, who defeated Christian Brothers Academy by a score of 66-53. Austin White continues to dazzle everyone with his Elite point guard skills for St. Peter’s Prep while Marial Shayok and Donovan Wright lead the very deep Blair Academy and seek their second Hoop Group Elite Camp Title this week. The game will beat at 3:30, you better not miss it! –@JakerBaker58

2:30PM- As the Consolation bracket Finals come to a close, our American Division Finals participants are ready to go. On the main court, Britton Anderson and Flint Hill High School(VA) will take on Jalen Broome and The Potomac School(VA) in what should be a very high paced, great all-around basketball Championship game! On the court next to them will be the 3rd place game, a contest between South Shore(NY) and Capital Prep(NJ), which should be a very competiitive game as well. This is the moment we have all been waiting for! Time to #BeElite! –@JakerBaker58

2:45PM- Flint Hill (Va.) with the tremendous start! Their full court pressure and fast break scoring has given them an early 15-2 lead! Plenty of time left, but Potomac (Va.) is going to have to figure out how to beat this press! –@JakerBaker58

2:55PMFlint Hill has jumped out to a commanding lead early on in the first half. Potomac School continues to have trouble with the press of Flint Hill. FH is trapping, stealing and converting those turnovers into easy baskets. Sam Worman is having a nice output early on for he’s already into double-digits with just under nine minutes left in the first half. 25-6 Flint Hill leads. –@CabWashington

3:20PM- It’s only halftime, but this game has been all one-sided! Flint Hill has taken their full court pressure, attacking defense and excellent shooting right to Potomac, giving them a 51-29 lead at halftime! Britton Anderson has led the way, but when you depend so much on a full court press, it takes five men to do the job right. Flint Hill is rewriting the definition of #BeElite! –@JakerBaker58

3:35PM- Don’t look now, but Potomac is making their move on Flint Hill! What once seemed like an insurmountable lead, has now dwindled down to only 8 points with just under nine minutes left! Both teams have a lot of fight in them! –@JakerBaker58

3:50PM- Blair Academy controls the tip-off and the National Division Championship has begun! And with three minutes remaining in the American Division Championship, Flint Hill’s lead over Potomac is gone! Potomac now leads! Another great day of basketball here at the Hoop Group Elite Camps! –@JakerBaker58

4:05PM- That’s why they play the game! What an incredible comeback! Facing an early 24 point hole forced mostly by an amazing Flint Hill full court press, The Potomac School(VA) came back to win the American Division Championship at the Hoop Group Elite Team Camp, 67-59! Earlier I said that Flint Hill was rewriting how to #BeElite, but the way Potomac came back was actually the real definition of #BeElite. Congratulations to the American Division Champions, The Potomac School! –@JakerBaker58

4:10PM- Now onto our other Final of the day, St. Peter’s Prep(NJ) leads The Blair Academy(NJ), 38-28 at halftime of the National Division Championship. The backcourt of Austin White and Nathaniel Pierre-Louis has set the tone in this game, but as we just saw by the comeback kids of Potomac, anything can happen in the second half! –@JakerBaker58

4:30PM- And just like that, Blair has taken the lead! Blair Academy has erased the St. Peter’s Prep lead thanks to the shooting by Michael Silverthorn and the great all-around play by Marial Shayok. Blair now leads 52-45 with 8:19 remaining! –@JakerBaker58

5:00PM- And the comeback is now complete! Blair Academy wins the Elite Team Camp National Division, 70-61 over St. Peter’s Prep! This game was dominated by, yes, you guessed it, Marial Shayok. “Big Canada” was all over the place for Blair, playing excellent interior defense, scoring from outside, inside and medium range, and often finding the open man for an easy bucket. He got plenty of help from his shooters, including Michael Silverthorn, who knocked down plenty of outside shots and were too much to handle in the second half. Today was a perfect example of why no lead is ever safe. Both of our Champions were down a combined 32 points at halftime today, and both had great comebacks to win by a total of 17 points! Once again, Congratulations to our Elite Team Camp Champions, The Potomac School(VA) of the American Division, and Blair Academy(NJ) of the National Division! That about sums it up here from Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania! We hope you enjoyed our LIVE Blog updates. Check back here for the Hoop Group Academic Elite 2 updates which starts Tuesday!
