Hoop Group will be providing daily online coverage of Elite camps in the form of “live blogs,” recognizing outstanding achievements at camp, and keeping you informed of all the latest Hoop Group Elite happenings.
In these live blogs, Hoop Group staff will note camp standouts, spectacular plays, college coaches in attendance, and more. While the bulk of updates will be text entries from HoopGroup.com writers, keep an eye out for video highlights and interviews, quotes from players, exclusive photos, Twitter updates, and more.
3:36 PM- Boys and Girls (NY) High School rising senior Romario Allen scord a game-high 20 points to earn MVP honors in the NBA West Division All-Star Game. Allen, who will begin his second season at Boys and Girls in the fall, led the blue team to a 72-66 win over the white team which was led by Troy Stancil’s (Theodore Roosevelt HS, MD/Class of 2014) 13 points. –@pfebbraro
1:52 PM- Bridgeport (WV) High School’s Tyler Sprouse (6’0″ PG/Class of 2013) helped lead his team to a 57-55 win the NBA West Division championship and then took home the Division’s MVP Award as the games wind down here at Elite Session III. –@pfebbraro
10:15 AM – First round of playoff games are wrapping up and it’s clear none of these players want to go home in a losing effort. 6-foot-3 rising senior Michael Warren (St. Frances Academy / Baltimore, MD) is clearly showing this with his intense body language. Down for the majority of the game, Warren has been diving for loose balls, picking up his defensive assignment before half court, refusing his basket drives to be interrupted, and encouraging his teammates with cheers. In today’s games we will see beyond the pure physical skills of the players and instead what they are made of to win decisive games. – @CraigManfra
9:22 AM- Rising senior point guard Matt Massimino (New Hope-Solebury / New Hope, PA) is hustling hard through station work today. He is sprinting at all times, is the first one into the huddle and the first one out, and is consulting with coaches as he works to improve. –@Edgar_Walker
8:53 AM- Even though it’s the last day of Elite III, players are still getting after it in station work. The work ethic of this group has been great, and the hardest workers will be rewarded this afternoon at the awards ceremony, where awards will be given out for players who showed the most hustle, made the most of station work, and were frequent attendees of Sweatshop and Early Bird workouts. –@Edgar_Walker
8:22 AM- A handful of players stood out on Day Three. Read about them here in yesterday’s Outstanding Performers post, which was compiled by members of our Digital Media Team. –@Edgar_Walker
8:05 AM- The final day of camp has begun, and it will be jam-packed with action from start to finish. Playoff games will be going on all morning, with the awards ceremony and all-star games set for the conclusion of the day. Be sure to check back this afternoon when award winners, all-star rosters, and all-star game recaps are posted. –@Edgar_Walker
