1:53 PM – And that’s a wrap! Both championship games have taken place and two elite teams have risen to the pinnacle of Future All-American achievements. In the Junior Elite Finals, Team 17 handled Team 18 decisively by winning the rebounding battle and making for difficult shots taken all game. Representing Canada, 6-foot-4 Joseph Thomas (Sinclair Secondary / Whitby ON) displayed great post moves and patrolled the paint with great length and energy to lead Team 17. – @CraigManfra
On center court the Fab Frosh/Super Soph Championship game went back and fourth all game, never having a margin of lead more than six points. The game’s uptempo style played in the favor of Team 3′s agile 6-foot-8 big man Carlton Bragg (Villa Angela-St. Joseph / Cleveland, OH) who finished several transition layups with great strength. Defensive adjustments by Team 11 ended up being the deciding factor in the game’s crucial last minutes as they went on to reign supremacy in Hoop Group’s last Elite Camp of Summer ’12. After a heartbreaking Team 3 missed runner, Daquon Ervin (Northfield Mount Hermon / Pomfret, CT) took advantage of the lack in transition defense to hit a game winning layup as time expired, final score 60-58. – @CraigManfra
12:02 PM – As the playoffs move on, intensity continues to grow on the court. Deante Robinson (Pencader Charter / New Castle, DE) has been like a pitbull on court 1, picking up defensive responsibilities at mid-court and fighting for every loose ball. Standing at 6-foot-4, this athletic swingman has all the tools to contribute well on the offensive side as well. – @CraigManfra
10:42 AM - Curtis Jones (Highland Springs, Va./2016) hit a game-winning shot with one second left to play lifting his team to a first-round playoff win. Fed the ball off an inbound on the baseline, the rising freshman easily drained a 10-foot jumper. –@pfebbraro
10:19 AM – On a mission to advance his team in today’s playoffs, rising freshman Vaughn Covington (Neumann Goretti / Philadelphia, PA) has took it upon himself to be his team’s go-to scorer. The 5-foot-8 combo guard has been scoring from all over the floor displaying effective jab steps, blow by speed, and ingenuity around the hoop. He’s certainly stepped his game up during this final day of camp. – @CraigManfra
10:05 AM - Sylvester Ogbonda (National Christian Academy, Md./6-10 F/ Class of 2015) is continuing his solid week of camp by grabbing rebounds and setting hard screens in the first playoff game of the day. –@pfebbraro
9:40 AM- The day’s first set of playoff games has tipped off, and these games are always fun to watch. The intensity level is higher from players and coaches, we see a lot of very good hustle plays, and there is a real sense of urgency on the floor. –@Edgar_Walker
8:57 AM- He’s been a stud all summer at Hoop Group events, and he looks poised to finish his summer off on a good note. The 6-10 Sylvester Ogbonda (National Christian Academy / Camp Springs, Md.) is showing off a nice mid-range game during station work this morning, and is displaying excellent hustle for the final day of camp. –@Edgar_Walker
8:10 AM- It’s the final and championship day at Future All-American Camp! Today also wraps up an unbelievable summer for Hoop Group Elite at Albright College. During early bird workout and morning stations players try to stay focused on their drill but side talk of who’ll win our different leagues and be named to the All-Star game fill sideline conversations.
