Lonnie Walker Ready For Team’s Test at Reading Tip Off

Lonnie Walker

Reading High School is preparing to “host” Archbishop Wood Friday night in the 6th annual Hoop Group Reading Tip Off Showcase. The Red Knights will look to bounce back after a close loss in last year’s showcase, albeit to a different opponent. This year the Knights are off to a 2-1 start.

Leading the charge for Reading is guard Lonnie Walker, who was awarded last year’s Tip Off MVP for Reading. A big and talented guard, Walker has been garnering high major interest and offers from schools like Stanford, Notre Dame, Villanova, Miami and Virginia Tech, to name a few. We caught up with Lonnie prior to Friday’s showcase to talk about the match up and his expectations for the season.

Q: What is your goal for the season?

My goal for this season is to bring back as many championships as possible to Reading High School.

Q: How have you prepared for this season?

I prepared for this season by working on my craft and getting better in every single aspect of the game. From lifting to post moves, I tried to work on it all.

Q: What is the key for a successful season?

The key for a successful season is for my family (my teammates) to all be on the same mindset and play together every single game.

Q: Are you and your teammates excited about the competition in the Hoop Group Tip Off Showcase?

My teammates and I are ecstatic to play in the Tip Off. We always get a chance to play against great teams and talented players.

Q: Who is your favorite player to watch?

I enjoy watching Russell Westbrook on the court.

Reading will play Archbishop Wood this Friday, at 8:00 pm at Albright College in Reading, PA. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.
