An Early Look At The ACC

4. Miami Hurricanes

Coming back from an unexpectedly strong season, Miami has the opportunity to prove to the college basketball world that 2016-2017 was no fluke, and move up in the rankings. A big strength Miami has going into the season is their returning and incoming talent; they return two of their three top scorers from the season past, and five star recruit Lonnie Walker, ranked 12th overall on ESPN’s top 100, adds a new threat to the Canes’ offense. Although injuring himself in the off-season, Walker is expected to be ready for the start of the season, so Canes fans can finally exhale. Their relatively easy conference schedule adds to the potential for a good turnout.

Their weakness lies in what they lose in Davon Reed and Kamari Murphy, and these athletic presences will need to be filled if the Hurricanes want to maintain a strong defense. The year for Miami has the potential to go either way, depending on how they play their cards.
