An Early Look At The ACC

8. University of Virginia Cavaliers

Virginia fans, prepare yourselves for the strong possibility of a drop off this season. How far will that drop off be? We’ll find out. The combination of one of the weakest recruiting classes of the traditional powerhouses in the ACC, as well as the loss of their two leading scorers and the leader of their offense from the 2016-2017 season London Perrantes leaves Virginia with a lot of rebuilding to do before the season starts. The Cavaliers also fell victim to the transfer crisis, watching Darius Thompson, Jarred Reuter and second-leading scorer Marial Shayok leave campus this Spring.

There is some hope, however, in two red shirt freshmen UVA has prepared to play this year, Jay Huff and De’Andre Hunter. The 6’11’ forward and 6’7″ guard (respectively) will add considerable size to the court, but with no prior in-game college basketball experience, only time will tell if these two will be playmakers.
