Jr. Elite II Blog

This past weekend in the Pocono’s, the Hoop Group held its second Jr. Elite Camp of the summer. An invite-only event for rising 6th-9th grade students, the Jr. Elite camp lived up to its name and was a highly competitive event. Players from nearly a dozen states, including PA, NJ, NY, DE, VT, VA, MD, D.C., IL, LA, and CA came to compete and work with the best young players around. The campers took part in intense and advanced offensive and defensive skill-develop work, game-play, and sweatshop workouts. Jr. Elite campers also had the opportunity to listen to a lecture from Kevin Brooks of the National Recruiting Report. Brooks, a former assistant coach at VCU, spoke with the campers about the work ethic needed to take their games to the next level and what their future could entail. Along with his lecture, Kevin also gave each player a personalized evaluation of their game, including things they do well and things that they need to develop in order to become better players. Award winners from the weekend session are listed below.
