Kellan Grady: Elite 2 Spotlight Preview

Name: Kellan Grady
Class: 2017
School: Northfield Mount Hermon (Massachusetts)
Height: 6’4”
AAU: New England Playaz

When Kellan Grady started at Catholic Memorial he was a smart guard with the ability to make shots. He wasn’t dynamic off the bounce nor did he play with a fire in his eyes.

That all changed when he met John Carroll and the New England Playaz, “Coach Carroll taught me to be aggressive on the offensive end. He showed me how to score in different ways that has turned me into more than just a shooter.” Grady said.

Its evident that his development is paying off. Coming off a state championship, Kellan has seen his interest blossom with offers from URI, Boston University, Richmond, St. Joe’s, Iona, Northeastern, Bowling Green and Towson. Since the open contact period, he has received calls from Miami, Davidson, BC, Stanford and Xavier.

Furthermore, Kellan is not a one dimensional person. With his grade point average climbing well above 3.0, he has heard from all Ivy leagues in hopes of landing the 6’4” combo guard. He talked about his dedication to the classroom, “Without strong academics you can’t play in college. I treat my school work with the same approach I bring to the court.”

As a reclassified junior, Grady will have two years to hone other aspects of his game. He is working on becoming stronger in the weight room and developing a post game. His ball handling and ability to see the floor have recently turned him into a legitimate facilitator.

Kellan is happy with the way his recruitment is progressing, “Now that I have reclassified, I’ve had a lot more coaches contact me. It is nice to be able to have some extra time to make a smart decision.” His decision will get even harder as he is expected to receive more offers attending Hoop Group Elite Session 2.
