St. Benedict’s has a history of producing good basketball players: J.R. Smith, Tyler Ennis, Corey Stokes, Lance Thomas, Samardo Samuels… Nate Pierre-Louis is no exception. The 6’3” rising junior has been steadily improving both on the court and in the recruiting world.

His countless number of offers include Penn State, Rutgers, Providence, Miami, St. John’s, Georgetown, SMU, URI, Temple, UConn, and Seton Hall. Nate’s heavy recruitment stems from his electric quickness and high volume scoring ability. He mentioned he is starting to become an elite floor general with a “pass-first” mentality, “I have been developing my court vision and passing ability so I can be dynamic on the offensive end.”

He has a lot of his development thanks to Sports U coach, Brian Coleman, and St. Benedict’s coach, Mark Taylor. He told me, “Those guys have helped me develop mentally just as much as physically. I am starting to think more on the floor and making more educated decisions.”

Speaking of education, Nate holds a high grade point average in hopes creating a life of balance, “You can’t play college basketball without good grades. If you don’t work in the classroom you aren’t dedicating yourself.”

While his grades need no improvements, he still plans to improve his game this summer. He will use the Hoop Group Elite Session 1 as a way to refine his interior game including finishing at the rim, creating separation and getting quicker. College coaches will use Session 1 as a way to get as close as they can to the high major prospect.
