Naz Reid Ready to be Next Stand Out Senior For Roselle Catholic

Nazreon Reid gave people a preview of what to expect this high school season at the Hoop Group Fall High School Showcase. The 6’9” senior forward came ready to play especially in the biggest game of the weekend against The Westtown School. Even though they lost, Reid scored 24 points and did a good job creating opportunities for his teammates. Reid enjoyed getting back on the floor with his team.

“It was a good experience to see where we are at and where we need to be so I thought it was a great experience” said Reid. “There are a couple of things that stand out to me, but I see more positives than negatives. As a group we feel like we can go very far so we just need to keep working hard in the future.”

In order to win the state championship this year, Reid thinks his team needs to focus on a couple of things.

“We just have to win and dominate every time we are on the floor,” he said. “We also need to do the little things like grab rebounds and play tough on defense. As long as we play together as a unit I think we will be fine.”

He decided to bring his recruitment to a close prior to the high school season by committing to LSU. One of the biggest reasons he chose the Tigers was because he felt at home.

“I felt at home with LSU, if I don’t want to be somewhere then I won’t go,” Reid said. “At LSU I was able to feel comfortable and I know that if we play together there it will take care of itself. We have great players like Javonte Smart and Darius Days coming in so why not go out there and win.”

Reid has matured and taken more of a leadership role. He credits that to some of the players he looked up to earlier in his high school career.

“I think it was growth and learning the difference between what to do and what not to do,” Reid said. “Former players at Roselle Catholic like Isaiah BriscoeMatt Bullock and Chris Silva set the tone for me and put me in the position I’m at today.”
