SCOUTING REPORT

Chris Lovisolo | Blair

A 2018 6’9 post at Blair, Lovisolo is one of the most skilled big men in this year’s New Jersey Tip Off. With a soft touch around the basket and an ability to step out and make jump shots, Lovisolo creates a defensive mismatch every time down the floor. His size, skill, and developing athleticism has D1 schools around the east coast checking in on the Blair big man.

Clarence Nadolny | Our Savior New American

This 2019 6’3 guard may be one of the MOST underrated players in the Northeast this year. Nadolny has the ability to score in bunches, all while running his team! He has a smooth stroke and is virtually impossible to keep out of the lane. With great athleticism, deep shooting range, and college level strength it will be no surprise to see Nadolny playing high level D1 basketball one day.

Precious Achiuwa | St Benedict’s

One of the best 2019 prospects in the ENTIRE COUNTRY! Precious Achiuwa truly checks every box for a high level basketball player. His 6’8 frame, smooth skill, shooting ability, and big time athleticism is what makes him not only a High Major D1 Recruit (Top 30 in the country) but also a potential NBA player. With a 38 point performance last week to kick off his season, Precious Achiuwa is already living up to the hype that follows him. DO NOT miss a chance to see him play live at the New Jersey Tip-off

Jalen Carey | Immaculate Conception

Many are calling Jalen Carey the best scorer in the state of New Jersey! The 2018 Syracuse commit is a threat to score from anywhere on the floor. His offensive arsenal is unlimited. Deep range, explosiveness to the hoop, and his crafty midrange game gives defenders nightmares when they have to guard him. With an improved play-making ability, he is truly a special talent, and one of the most EXCITING players in the state of New Jersey and beyond!

Jake Betlow | St Benedict’s

A 2019 guard from St. Benedicts, Jake Betlow is a coach’s dream on a basketball court . The 6’3 combo shows a truly complete game. He can handle the ball and create for others. He can play off the ball as a high level shooter and scorer. He can defend multiple positions. He passes, he communicates, and he does all of this with a quiet confidence that radiates from his game. You will see Jake Betlow do whatever his talented Benedict’s team needs at the New Jersey Tip-Off.

Nate Tabor | Out Savior New American

Tabor is a sophomore guard who puts pressure on the defense in a variety of ways.  At 6’4”, he has great size that allows him to get wherever he wants on the floor.  While he can score the ball, especially in the open court and at the rim, his best ability is to see the floor and find open teammates.  Expect Tabor to be tracked by high major schools in the coming years as a combo guard.

Tucker Richardson | Blair

Richardson is a natural born scorer.  With good size on the wing, he continually makes plays at the rim with a variety of finishes.  He is constantly in attack mode and making plays on both ends on the floor.  Richardson will play his college ball at Colgate University.

Lester Quinones | St Benedict’s

Quinones makes a strong case to be the best shooter at NJ Tip.  With great size at 6’6”, he has the ability to get his shot off over defenders as well as off the bounce and catch.  He keeps defenders honest with his ball handling and finishing around the rim as well.  With a 38 point outburst against national power Huntington Prep already this week, expect Lester to fill it up again this weekend.

Jahvon Quinerly | Hudson Catholic

Quinerly may not only be the best point guard in the event, he makes a case to be the best point guard in the 2018 class.  He can do just about everything you can imagine with the ball in his hand, from knocking down shots, attacking the rim, and always finding the open man.  A calming presence, he will always have his team in the right spots ready to make plays.  Don’t blink while he has the ball or you may miss a highlight play.

Luther Muhammad | Hudson Catholic

When players step on the court and see that Muhammad is their match up, they know it is going to be a long night.  An old school, junkyard dog type of player, Muhammad is a high-level defender who will guard 94 feet the entire night.  On the offensive end, he can score from all three levels with good elevation and his shot and strong enough to power his way to the rim.  Muhammad will be playing his college ball at Ohio State University.

Khalif Battle | Gil St. Bernards

Battle has the ability to score the ball whenever he wants.  The 6’4” junior guard has a smooth jump shot the extends well beyond the high school three-point line.  He also attacks the rim hard with an explosive first step and big time leaping ability.  Battle will leave this season making the case that he is the best scorer in the state in the class of 2019.  Expect high major schools to be tracking him hard throughout the year.

Trey Patterson | Rutgers Prep

The future of New Jersey basketball has arrived.  Playing his first high school game at NJ Tip, it will not take long to see why Patterson is considered one of the best prospects nationally in the 2021 class.  Already standing at 6’8”, he can step out on the perimeter and make plays as well as put it on the floor and attack the rim.  New Jersey basketball fans should get familiar with Patterson as he becomes a name around New Jersey and the country.
