9:50 AM-On one court, local rivals Team Takeover Orange and D.C. Assault are locked in a 17U Elite 8 battle, with Assault carrying a 30-29 lead into halftime. Bmore’s Finest and Team Loaded NC are also going at it right now, with Loaded holding a slim 22-19 lead with one minute remaining in the first half. We’ll have recaps of each Elite 8 game on our post-tournament wrapup. —@Edgar_Walker

9:27AM- After a competitive set of 16U games. we’ve moved into the 17U Elite 8 here at Competitive Edge. The eight teams still alive? Team Loaded NC, Bmore’s Finest, D.C. Assault, Team Takeover Orange, Sports U, L.A. Rockfish, Mass Rivals, and New Heights. The basketball strength of the Baltimore/D.C. metro area is showcased here, with three of the remaining eight teams hailing from the DMV. —@Edgar_Walker

9:13AM- In a high-intensity 16U game, NJ Roadrunners took D.C. Assault to the wire, led by 6-foot-4 wing Myles Stephens (2014/St. Andrew’s). An athletic swimgman who showed off a nice mid-range game, Stephens played with a lot of energy and put his stamp on the game with a few highlight-level dunks. The junior is a straight-A student and said schools such as Columbia, Yale, Bucknell, and Holy Cross have been keeping tabs on him. —@Edgar_Walker

8:01 AM- A crowd of bleary-eyed college coaches have made their way into Competitive Edge for the morning’s first set of games; the 16U and Open championship brackets are spread out over the five courts for today’s early games.
