The past two weeks have been fun yet stressful. Last Friday we started the DC Classic tournament that we host every year. It was a great tournament. The Teams in attendance were St. Johns, Mt. St. Josephs, Holy Cross, St. Raymonds, Good Counsel, Charlotte Christian, Chantilly, and Gonzaga. We met up with Charlotte Christian in the championship last Sunday. The game was tough but we came out on top beating Charlotte Christian 54-49. After the game I was awarded the MVP of the tournament and my teammates Cahli Thomas and Kris Jenkins made the All-Tournament Team. I just want to thank all my teammates and coaches for their support because I wouldn’t have been able to receive such an award without them. This year was our fifth year straight winning the DC Classic. The tournament was fun, as it always is especially when you get a chance to see or play against some of the guys you know and play against on the AAU circuit. We have two back to back games this week before Christmas break. Tuesday, we play Don Bosco and Wednesday we play Bishop McNamara at home. We will be fired up to play McNamara this week because they beat us this summer in the The Rock Summer League. They have a returning player Marcus Thornton who played with the same AAU program I play with in the summer, DC Assault. He will be a lot to handle Wednesday. On top of the hectic basketball season, we have had exams this past week. It has been tough to study for my midterm exams while having practice or a game just about everyday. Getting home around 8 or 8:30 every night and preparing for a test or finishing some homework that I didn’t finish in study hall has been a lot to deal with, but this is a sacrifice that my teammates and I have chosen to do in order to play basketball. We are rewarded with Christmas break starting Monday Dec. 21. Over the break we play in the Beach Ball Classic. This is definitely a tournament we are looking forward to winning. I want to wish all my readers on my Hoop Group Elite Camp Diary and everyone else a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
