Kevin Boyle Point Guard Camp, scheduled July 13-15, offers young point guards the opportunity to learn from one of the game’s best teachers and most successful coaches ever on the high school level.
Kevin Boyle, a three-time National Coach of the Year award winner and the current head coach at Montverde Academy (Fla.), will work closely with players to give them the skills needed to be successful point guards.
The former head coach at St. Patrick (NJ), Boyle is the only high school coach to ever have two players selected in the top five of the NBA Draft in back-to-back years. Kyrie Irving (Duke) was the #1 overall selection in 2011, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (Kentucky) was drafted second overall in June’s 2012 Draft. Irving and Kidd-Gilchrist are also Hoop Group alumni, and were fixtures at Hoop Group-organized events throughout their youth.Boyle has a proven track record of developing high-caliber point guards, and his Point Guard Camp should be a key part of all aspiring point guards’ summers. Players will improve their ball handling, court vision, conditioning, and overall knowledge of the game of basketball at camp. Point Guard Camp resides under the Hoop Group Skills umbrella, meaning that players will learn and play in Hoop Group’s “Basketball Utopia” in the Poconos.
Hoop Group has operated top-notch basketball camps for 50 years, producing countless players at the Division I level, along with dozens of college All-Americans and NBA draft picks. Combined with Coach Boyle’s 20-plus years of head coaching experience, players are certain to learn the nuances of the game and receive the highest level of coaching and instruction possible.
