HG Alum Commits: Adam Pickett Chooses Winthrop

The last time we saw Adam Pickett, he was playing in a gym packed with college coaches at Hoop Group Elite Camp. The 6’1 senior showed an ability to run the point guard position and appeared to be very comfortable with the ball in his hands. The long lefty also showed a tremendous ability to slash to the rim and finish in a variety of ways. He drew a lot of attention during the week of camp and finished as an NBA East All-Star.

Fast forward a couple of months and the Hoop Group Alumni has now committed to play basketball at Winthrop University. Pickett will be joining a team that finished 20-13 a season ago and made it all the way to the Big South Conference Championship game. The team looks to build on last season’s success this upcoming year as Pickett looks to end his high school career with a strong senior season.

While he may have accomplished his goal of playing Division 1 basketball, Adam knows his game is not a finished product. He continues to work on enhancing his skills every single day. In the summer, he mentioned that one of his goals was to improve his jump shot, which could make him a terror to guard defensively.

We had a chance to sit down with Adam during Elite Camp and talk to him. We talked about his camp experience, where his recruiting process was at the time, even NBA free agency! You can see that full interview right here:

Hoop Group would like to wish Adam the best of luck as he begins his senior year, and continued success both in the classroom and on the hardwood when he heads to Winthrop in the fall of 2015!
