Live Blog: Summer JamFest Day 3

With the NCAA calendar changes this summer the Summer Jam Fest was born. This 3 day tournament is held just outside of Philadelphia in King of Prussia. Hoop Group would like to keep you informed with whats going on in the tournament as it happens. 2:01 PM - In a 17U Semi-Finals game that went down to the wire, the underdog Raritan Roundballers held on for a hard fought win against New Heights NYC. 2013 Guard Steven Weidlich (Watchung Hills HS) continues to light it up from beyond the arc as he scored 18 points with four three-pointers to lead the Roundballers. Weidlich, who’s zero collegiate offers should change soon, leads this tournament in most 3PTs made with an average of a little over six per game! They’ll take on New Rens-Memminger (NY) at 3:00PM for bragging rights as Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest 17U Champions.

3:03 PMAaaron Falzon (St. Marks School (MA)/ Class of 2015), scored a game-high 21 points in leading his ECE Mass (MA) team to the 16U Championship by defeating Expressions Elite (MA) 55-49.
Damion Smith (Redemption Christian (MA)/Class of 2014) scored a team-high 15 points for Expressions. More info to follow in our championship round-up. –@pfebbraro

1:55 PM – Add Penn State, Arkansas, Temple, Arizona and Marquette to school’s interested in 6-foot-7 Jordan Washington (Class of 2013) from Pathways Prep School in Queens, NY.
Washington, who is physical, strong and can match-up well in most situations, has already received interest from Villanova, Cincinnati and Miami. –@pfebbraro

12:09 PM – 17U brakcet is down to four teams. The unlikely run of the Raritan Roundballers continues, New Rens & New Heights could make a very interesting all New York final, and East Coast Fusion has gotten hot at the right time. 11:25 AM - On day three the 17U, 16U and 15U champions will be determined. The 17U and 15U championship games will be played at 3 pm. The 16U game will tip at 1:45 pm.

Here are some results from early consolation bracket play. In the 16U bracket New Heights(NY) topped Team Phoenix Elite (NC) 59-58. In the 15U silver bracket New Heights (NY) defeated BSA (PA) 74-61 and Team Philly (PA) beat Team Underrated (NY) 61-30. New Heights will meet Team Philly for the 15U silver bracket championship at 12:30 PM. –@pfebbraro
