10:12 pm Our last games of the night wrap up. Sports U tops Boston Warriors and High Rise Elite tops York Ballers in OT. A great way to end the night. Tomorrow will start Elite Eight and Finals Fours. 6 championships are on the line and we are looking at some very competitive match ups. Be sure to follow us again tomorrow. If you missed anything from today, check us out on Twitter. Good night! 9:36 pm Nicola Akele was a sought after prospect by several Division 1 schools. 6’8 wing from IMG Academy is athletic, capable shooter and attacks the glass hard. Reports say he has decided to play at the University of Rhode Island next year. –@JN_Albano 9:03 pm Fantastic finish between Mass Rivals and Early Risers. Risers had a lead, but 8 straight points by Saul Phiri gave Mass a lead they would not relinquish, Phiri finished with 19. Greg Kuakumensah shut the door with a big block to end the game. Darnell Edge (pictured) finished with a team high 13 for the Risers. IMG_8748   8:22 pm How about the performance from Arthur Smith? 13 year old had 38 points in a win for the NYC Wizards. One of the best scoring performances of the day, coming from our youngest bracket! Shows how much potential our younger groups have. 7:55 pm Caleb Green (Proctor Academy ’16) accounts for 65% of his team’s first half points, and DC Blue Devils are heading to the 17u Elite Eight!

7:41 pm Cant say enough about how well Wayne PAL has played this year. Gone deep in every Hoop Group tournament, and looking very strong against The System Basketball Club right now. Matt Latka has been terrific and Isiah Reyes is a solid point guard.-@JN_Albano 6:49 pm There’s no debating it….Hoop Group gets you seen!

5:49 pm Devin Balitmore played the roll of hero for 13u York Ballers. Dropped in a game winning lay up against New England Storm.

5:27 pm Couple names to remember, Tremont Waters and Nazreon Reid. Both players will be big time college basketball players some day.

4:58 pm One of the biggest comebacks of the day just occurred. Expressions Elite 16u looked to be on their way to an easy second round win, up 18 in the second half. Brooklyn Ponemade refused to give in however, and clawed their way back to a gutsy 77-76 win.-@TheHoopGroup

4:34 pm New England Playaz look like the team to beat with two commanding wins so far. Will anyone be able to contain them on offense? IMG_8713   3:42 pm The Rhode Island College Rec Center is packed! Fans and coaches on hand watching the New England Playaz, DC Blue Devils and Harlem United. Tons of action going on right now. IMG_8704 3:03 pm Albany City Rocks and NY Pride in a battle right now. City Rocks jumped out to a big lead early, but Pride clawed back into it and have a second half lead! 44-42 with 4 minutes left. –@JN_Albano IMG_8703 2:21 pm Albany City Rocks giving their version of “Dunk City” during warm ups! Up big in the first half as well, will be a great team to watch the rest of way.

1:32 pm Breein Tyree (St. Joe’s Metuchen ’16) was a big reason why Sports U won the 16u bracket last year in Providence. And he’s off to another hot start this year. He has offers from high major schools, such as Kansas State, USC, Northwestern, Creighton, St. Joe’s and Iowa State, among other Division 1s.

11:57 am D. Athletic Club may have had the nicer jerseys, but that didn’t stop Harlem United from besting them in a first round match up. Ricky Hicks led a balanced scoring effort with 12, all in the first half.

D. Athletic Club is the front runner so far for best jerseys this weekend. #HGJamFest   A photo posted by Hoop Group (@hoopgroup) on

11:24 am The New England Playaz are one of the favorites to win the 17u bracket this weekend. Lot of Division 1 talent on the roster, including Tremont Waters and AJ Brodeur, among others. We will definitey keep an eye on them…

10:35 am Couple big time performances early from some 17u teams. NJ Shoreshots (Rice) had four players over 9 points (Michael Rice 15, Jimmy Panzini 13, Branislav Vujadinovic 11, Jack McGuire 9). Right next door, The System Basketball Club (CT) put on a show late. They scored 86 points and put on a dunk contest late. Look for those highlights to be in the mixtape! –@TheHoopGroup 9:44 am Lot of teams up bright and early, and ready to get after it today. The road to a championship starts now!
