End of Summer Classic Ends Live Period With 1 Day Showcase

The End of Summer Classic hosted 40 AAU teams for a 1 day bracket tournament to close out the division 1 live recruiting period. This tournament brought in coaches from close and far trying to get their last licks in for the evaluation period.

The tournament used nearly almost every minute of July to be completed as it ended with a thrilling triple OT game.

16U Platinum Championship

Jordan Washington led all scorers with 21 points, earning him MVP honors in New Heights NYC 76-67 championship win over the Jersey Shore Warriors. The Warriors fought hard having a balanced scoring attack from the perimeter but it wasn’t enough to stop Washington’s dominance inside the paint.

New Heights capped off this amazing run by getting through fellow New York team the Juice All-Stars 61-45 in the opening round and had another impressive win over the hottest team of the summer Team Philly in the Semifinals.

17U Platinum Championship

The highlight of the night was watching the New Jersey Playaz claw back into a game that appeared to be over late in the 2nd half as they trailed New Heights by double digits. After Kyle Anderson converted on a free throw + layup to tie the game to force overtime it would take another 2 periods to determine a champion. The Playaz rode their momentum and won in triple OT 64-63. Kyle Anderson was named MVP of the game. “This is a heated rivalry since we were 11 years old. To beat New Heights in my last AAU game was a great win.” Anderson said after the game, “Hoop Group always does a good job every year. They always do a good job with the high school team camp, Hoop Group Elite camps, Hoop Group is great.”
