Hoop Group Pitt Jam Fest Day 1 Recap Trees Court

During Day 1 of Hoop Group Pittsburgh Jam Fest at Trees Court, teams took the floor to start off the festivities.

Ryan Richards led the way for the 716 Crusaders with 17 points in their 53 to 41 win over Spiece.

2011 Pitt Jam FestMartins Wolverines had a strong showing, winning 62-25 over the 716 Crusaders (U17). Stedmon Lowery’s 13 points lifted the Wolves to victory.

Drill 4 Skill and Team Loaded went down to the wire in their match-up, but Drill 4 Skill was able to pull out the 66-65 win. “I enjoyed the event. I got see talent and it helped me see where I am,” said James Daniel of Team Loaded.

In another close game, South Florida Elite pulled out the win over Basketball Stars of America 49-45, behind a strong performance from Josh Floyd (13 points). “It’s pretty good. I’m from Florida so it was a nice little change,” said Floyd. Floyd, a sophomore,  is drawing interest from the University of Miami.

East Coast Fusion was the only team to put on 90 points on the evening, getting the victory over Atlantic Arsenal, 90-67. Wake Forest commit Andre Washington was the key defensively, keeping guards away from the basket and blocking shots. “There is always great competition for the four years that I’ve been a part of the events,” said Washington of coming to Hoop Group.

The night wrapped up with DC Assault, who pulled out the victory over Maryland’s Finest 55-47.
