It’s Miller Time for Rumson Lady Bulldogs at Boardwalk Showcase

RUMSON- The Lady Bulldogs got a tough test from the Lady Spartans of Holy Spirit. Every time Rumson built a lead the Lady Spartans battled back but Hannah Miller was the difference maker. Rumson coach George Sourlis was pleased with Miller’s performance.

“Played like a senior today. She made big shots in big spots and guarding their highest scorer in Crilley. That’s why we love seniors.”

Miller scored 12 of her team high 16 points in the first half to give Rumson a 12 point advantage at the half.

“They [Holy Spirit] are a really good team. We knew we’d have to run and move the ball around to get the open shot. So we had to drive and kick.” said Miller about the Lady Bulldogs offensive attack.

While Miller held the spotlight, the Lady Bulldogs got a big contribution from freshman Nicole Morris with 9 points off the bench.

Coach Sourlis feels that his seniors will prove to be the difference for all teams come state tournament time but he is pleased with his underclassmen stepping up.

“She’s starting to feel comfortable on the floor. [Nicole] does so many things well with the ball, she sees the floor, and able to get herself into gaps to create points for herself or for her teammates which is a something that is a rare commodity and she has that ability which is amazing as a young kid.”

Gina Lewis was a force in the low post for Holy Spirit. She was named team MVP for the Lady Spartans finishing the game with a game high 17 points.
