NBA Draft Lottery Prediction: Los Angeles Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers – #2 Pick 2017 NBA Draft

Needs: Shooting, Depth up front
The Pick: Lonzo Ball – UCLA
Other options: Josh Jackson (Kansas), De’Aaron Fox (Kentucky)

If Lavar Ball’s track record of speaking things into existence remains flawless, it will only be a matter of time before the Ball Family is multi-billionaires. Late in the college hoops season Ball declared that his son Lonzo would only play for the Lakers. When asked to back track claimed that he was merely “speaking it into existence.” While the Lakers already possess two talented young guards in Jordan Clarkson and D’Angelo Russell, the thought of adding a guard as talented as Ball is the right move with the #2 pick. Lonzo has once in a decade passing abilities, and has been compared to Jason Kidd. Lonzo is also a great shooter, despite a unique form, and should be a terror in the pick and roll. Defensively he will need time to adjust to the NBA level, but his impact offensively from day one will make the Lakers a better team immediately. While Los Angeles had some concerns about his conditioning after his private workout, I believe they will ultimately select the homegrown LA product with the 2nd pick. His court vision, unlimited range and his great feel for the game will leave Jack Nicholson and the rest of the Staples Center crowd dazzled.

If the Lakers add Ball and sign or trade for Paul George in Free Agency, they are well on their way to putting themselves back in the playoff picture out west. Magic Johnson has thrived in the spotlight for over four decades now, having to deal with any possible outside pressure from the Big Baller Brand for the foreseeable future should be something he can handle, especially as Lonzo continues to improve and fulfill his massive potential.

[…] Fox could be the next John Wall, and I can’t say I disagree. He embarrassed Lonzo Ball (who we have going 2) when they went head to head this season. No matter what, the Kings are getting a good player at 5. […]
