Reading, PA– Another camp is set to get started at Albright this week. Sure to be a college coaches dream as over 500 high academic student athletes head to Reading for Academic Elite session 2. We had a good first session of academic camp, now we’re raising the bar during the live period. Let’s get started!

Friday, July 24th — Day 4

12:44 pm

With championship games winding down, we will end the live blog here. Award ceremonies are up shortly, followed by all star games. You can head to our Twitter feed for updates of those games when they happen. Thank you to all the parents, players and coaches that helped make this a great week of camp!

12:02 pm

Kevin Hoehn (Morristown ’17) is gaining some interest from high academic Division 1 programs. He’s a guard who doesn’t shy away from guarding the other team’s top player, is a good ball handler, and can shoot the three ball well.

8:03 pm Shooter alert. James Yang (James E Taylor ’16)b came all the way from Houston, Texas for camp. He’s showing his shooting ability right now, too. Knocked down a three off a nice pass and then hit a pull up mid range in transition. –@TheHoopGroup   7:11 pm Joey Polczynski averaged 11 points per game last season for Emmaus High School. Expect those numbers to rise next year playing next to David and Matt Kachelries. Should be a nice triple threat for the Green Hornets out in the Lehigh Valley. 6:01 pm From earlier: Coach Pecora giving the camp some tips on getting recruited. No better person to hear it from than a coach himself!

5:03 pm Always good to see guys turning it up on the defensive end

3:55 pm #ThrowbackThursday to last year’s Academic Elite Session 2. Camp featured now NBA draftee Satnam Singh! 3:24 pm It’s been another good week of recruiting here at Academic Elite Camp. Over 65 college coaches have been to Albright this week to recruit from this large group of high academic students. Hoop Group gives you exposure! 2:14 pm

1:19 pm As the morning sets of games come to a close, campers will take a break to listen to a lecture from former Division 1 coach Tom Pecora. Coach Pecora was most recently at Forham University, where he spent 5 seasons. Prior to that he spent 10 as the head coach at Hoftstra, where he had a 55% win percentage and made the NIT Tournament three times. 12:35 pm Hunterdon Central junior Tucker Richardson was nominated as a top prospect on day two, and is playing well again today. 5’11 guard is showing an aggressiveness in his game today and is attacking the hoop hard. –@TheHoopGroup 10:53 am Check out some photos from camp so far! Be sure to ‘Like’ The Hoop Group on Facebook! 10:03 am We get started for game action now. As we begin, several teams will be playing important games today. 4:14 pm Love the play of Jaylen Prophet (Olmstead ’16). Has been making good decision with the ball all day. He’s a very, very good passer…makes plays happen and sets his teammates up for success. Can also score the ball himself if given an opening. –@JN_Albano 3:45 pm We’re back on the hardwood after academic stations come to an end. As we begin our second round of game sets today, one player to keep an eye on is Evan Horne (Cedar Crest ’16). He’s a low D1 recruit right now, and for good reason. A great shooter, can control an offensive tempo and has good hops! 1:33 pm Opportunity to rest the tired legs and turn on the brain. Campers partake in afternoon academic stations before tipping off the second set of games. Academic Elite is all about the student athlete and players are learning that right now! –@TheHoopGroup 12:32 pm Nate Duda is a player you should be watching this week. Skilled wing who can score the basketball. Not too bad on defense either!

CKhd71OUYAAHrzg 8:54 am As always, we have to get our skill work in before we start on a full slate of games. Love the passion and energy he brings to every lecture.

9:06 pm Stay tuned for highlights!

8:47 pm Jacob O’Connell (Eastern ’19) has yet to reach high school, but the potential is there. He’s already 6’7 and his skill set is improving rapidly. He could be a good player in New Jersey over the next few years. 7:34 pm Check us out on Instagram for cool pictures of camp all week!

6:57 pm Not unusual to see international players make their way to Hoop Group, but this might be a record with 35 players making their way to camp from Spain this week. Also have players from Italy and Canada here as well. Elite Camp gives you competition from all over the world! 6:08 pm It’s always great seeing players come back for multiple sessions of camp. Michael Boice (Donovan Catholic ’16) is one of them. He was at the first session of Academic Elite, and was named a top performer. Now he’s back an looking to increase his stock during the live period! Michael Boice 4:29 pm Joey Polczynski has had great success at Emmaus High School in Emmaus, PA. The wing is a very effective player on both ends of the floor. Looking to raise his stock this week.

3:44 pm As we gear up for tryout games, let’s take a look at some players to keep an eye out on. Down low, 6’10 twins Ryan and Parker Omslaer, 2017s from St. Peter’s Prep in NJ, are two to keep an eye on. Big bodied posts with solid skills. –@JN_Albano 3:00pm After campers sat down and listened to an academic recruiting lecture, they head back to Bollman for their first stations of the week! Gotta start the day off with some skill work before we get into game action! –@TheHoopGroup 1:32 pm

12:57 pm

Registration has almost come to a close, and this is a HUGE turnout for Academic Elite. Great to see so many high academic athletes in the gym. Be sure to follow us all week here on the live blog, on Twitter, and Instagram for pictures and updates.
