Coach Kevin Boyle, who in April led Montverde Acadmey (FL) to it’s second-straight High School National Championship, just concluded his second and final camp of the summer at Hoop Group Skills Camp in the Poconos.

The intensive 48-hour point guard camp was highlighted by Boyle running campers through many of the same drills he has used to coach current and former NBA players Kyrie Irving, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Samuel Dalembert and Al Harrington.

In addition to the instruction from Boyle, campers were given the opportunity to attend two early-bird workout sessions with Skills Director Ryan Finch and play in a set of round-robin team and 3-on-3 games.

NBA MVP - Harlyn OwensHARLYN OWENS – NBA Division MVP
Clearly the best player in camp, Owens demonstrated his ability to play either the one or the two by showcasing his ball handling, shooting and decision making abilities. Also went hard on the defensive end and quickly assumed the role as a team a leader.

NBA MIP - Mike HomzaMIKE HOMZA – NBA Division Most Improved Player
A strong guard that can get to the rim well, he can also knock down long-range jumpers if you leave him alone. Homza showed great improvement with his ball handling over the camp’s two days and worked hard at both Early Bird Workout sessions.

NBA Floor General - Kyle BrownKYLE BROWN – NBA Division Floor General
Excellent court vision, it always seems that he sees the open man before his opponents. Handles the ball well and displayed the kind of leadership necessary to play the point guard position. His size is also advantage Brown uses to his advantage as his length helps to create scoring chances on offense while taking away opponents chances on defense.

NBA Division Mr. Hustle - Tarrick BrissettTARRICK BRISSETT – NBA Division Mr. Hustle
Strong physical player with great athletic ability. When tuned in and focused he can be the best player on the court. Has vocal leadership skills and will lead by example. Works end-line to end-line.

ACC MVP - James Jordan-HooksJAMES JORDAN-HOOKS – ACC Division MVP
He can get out and the run the floor with the best of them, all the while effectively surveying the court for the next opportunity, be it a scoring chance, a pass or even to set a pick. He also took immense pride in his play on the defensive end with his length causing problems for opposing teams.

ACC MIP - Alex HarbourALEX HARBOUR – ACC Division Most Improved Player
An incredibly athletic player, Harbour attacks the basket with amazing force. His power and height, plus speed, makes him a difficult player to match-up against. Worked hard to develop a stronger handle this weekend.

ACC Floor General - Patrick KernanPATRICK KERNAN – ACC Division Floor General
A very good ball handler who can use both hands interchangeably, Kernan sees the floor extremly well and is strong when attacking the basket. He was very coachable over the weekend and exhibited a very high basketball IQ.

ACC Division Mr. Hustle - Michael FarnanMICHAEL FARNAN – ACC Division Mr. Hustle
A small kid with a big heart, Farnan wasn’t the tallest kid on the court but didn’t let that stop him from out hustling every other player in the ACC Division. Was also the first to hit the floor when going after loose balls.

If you missed any of our camps so far don’t worry, there are still plenty of dates available for the rest of the summer !!
