Elite 2 Day 1 Recap

Another week means another camp here at Albright College, and the talent pool is once again top notch! With the second live period starting tomorrow, preparations have already begun with the start of Elite camp session 2.

Players came from all over for this week’s camp, registering today before taking part in stations and tryout scrimmage sets, before closing out the night with a message from ESPN analyst Seth Greenberg.

One highlight from the day that happened off the court included Austin Williams (Seton Hall Prep ‘17) who picked up his first two Division I offers from St. Francis (PA) and American. Williams attended Academic Elite 1, and is back for this week’s camp. Here’s his highlight reel from two weeks ago:

As far as on-court action was concerned, here are our standouts from the first day of basketball:

Gabriel Bryan (Monsignor Scanlan ‘17) proved himself to arguably be the top player at camp without a D-I offer. Bryan was all over the place during his scrimmages, finishing on high-flying dunks and dominating around the rim. The 6-foot-1 guard flashed highlight-reel athleticism on the opening day of play.

Donald Carey (Frederick Douglass ‘17) standing at 6-foot-3, Carey proved himself to be a capable ball handler and distributor, making two phenomenal passes through the defenders. Also, Carey is a talented outside shooter that can get to the rim and finish at will. He has already received offers from George Mason and Howard, but if his play continues this week, he could very well be adding to that list.

Colton Lawrence (Hill School ‘17) was a force to be reckoned with all over the court, with his physical play and talent around the rim. He finished from both inside and outside time and time again, forced turnovers at the defensive end of the floor, and frequently rattled the rims with some breakaway slams. Lawrence, a post-grad at the local Hill School, holds an offer from Virginia Military.

We’re looking forward to another great day of basketball tomorrow as the week rolls on into the start of the live period!
