LIVE Blog: New England Jr. Elite Top 100 and Top 100

Jr. Elite

Wentworth Institute of Technology hosts Hoop Group’s New England Jr. Elite and Top 100 taking place all day here in Boston, MA. This morning some of the area’s top 5th-9th graders will hit the hardwood starting at 10 a.m. in the Jr. Elite session while some of the region’s most talented 9th-12th graders will finish the day  in the Top 100 portion set to start at 3 p.m.  Be sure to follow @CabWashington for all the updates from today’s action at WIT. #BeElite

10:00AM– Elite camp Director Chad Myers and the rest of the Hoop Group coaches started today’s events with some stations and warm-up drills. The younger group is getting ready to lace up and show spectators some of their outstanding basketball  ability.#BeElite

11:00AM– The workouts are starting to intensify here at Wentworth. The young cast have shown a number of flashy moves during the half-court drills. With scrimmages set to start at 12, it will be interesting to see what kids stand out and show what it takes to #BeElite.

12:00PM– Guys are really getting after here during scrimmage play. Like what I’ve seen from Michael Hardwick thus far. He has shown a great motor and has been relentless on the defensive end. Hardwick has been aggressive attacking the basket but has also dumped it off to the open man as well.

12:30PM- Malik Rogers continues to show his knack for rebounding. Just corralled an offensive board and followed with a put back lay in as the buzzer sounded. Way to be #BeElite!

1:00PM- A pair of pint-size point guards have been showing  out among the Jr. Elite participants. Michael Buscetto has done a great job creating his own shot as well as find easy baskets for his teammates while the other sub-four-foot floor general Jakai Gall continues to find ways to score around the rim.

1:35PM– The final set of images just finished up minutes ago. With campers receiving their respective player evaluations, New England Jr. Elite is in the books. Be sure to check back in at 3 p.m. for updates on Top 100. #BeElite

3:30PM– Nice collection of skilled and talented players here at New England Top 100. The group has brought a lot of energy to start the session. The big question is, what guys will emerge themselves and #BeElite during exhibition play?

4:20PM- Da’Jon Streeter (Notre Dame Prep, Ma. 2014) has stood out as one of the more physically and more well-rounded guards out of this Top 100 group. At 6-foot-4 he has been able exploit smaller defenders. He’s also displayed  nice perimeter game as well making a number of baskets from beyond the arc.

5:30PM- Tyonne Malone (Willston Northhampton, Ma. 2016) showing has a full repertoire today. From offensive rebound and put-back dunks to making shot from the perimeter, Malone hasn’t shown many weaknesses in his offense. His been a hawk on defense as well as he has harassed the opposition from end to end. Malone has really shown that he is a complete player.

7:00PM– Games are starting to wind down, but that hasn’t stopped Nelson Zayas (Sabis, Ma. 2014) from heating up. The senior guard just knocked down two straight from three-point range. Outside of his great shooting on the day, he has given a great effort on the defensive end as well.

8:00PM- Great showing from all the kids who came out today for New England Jr. Elite and Top 100. Be sure to check in tomorrow for all updates on New England Academic Elite starting at 10 p.m. #BeElite
