Offers rolling in on first full day of live period

With the first July live period starting last night, it was inevitable that several of the talented players at this week’s elite camp would be in line for some kind of scholarship offers.

It didn’t take long for that to become a reality, as four players have already picked up scholarship offers from Division I schools; some of which had already developed a list of offers, while others are just receiving their second or third.

The first offer of the week came from a Big East program, as DePaul offered Josip Vrankic (Father John Redmond ’17), adding the first major conference program to Vrankic’s double-digit list of scholarships that includes Weber State, Columbia, St. Bonaventure, and Dartmouth.

“It was crazy,” Varankic said. “Last night, I think I played a really good game, made a few threes, made some nice passes, so I felt pretty good, and I got the phone call last night, it was just crazy.”

Following suit were two northeast programs, with St. Peter’s offering Kareem Reid (John Bowne ’19) and Canisius offering Scott Hitchon (Balboa City School ’17).

“I’m proving that as a freshman, I can do a lot of things, and I’m showing that to the scouts,” Reid said.

Finally, rising junior Dallas Watson (St. Raymond’s ’18) received his third offer, Stony Brook, Thursday afternoon.

This shouldn’t be the end of the offers our campers will receive this week and this summer, as the talent pool at elite 1 has proven to be truly elite! Stay tuned, as this summer’s chapter of the recruiting process has just begun for the outstanding players at this week’s camp.
