Immaculate Conception

Immaculate Conception (NJ) will take part in the Hoop Group Tip-Off Showcase for the first time Saturday where they will play in the first game of the event against Bergen Catholic (NJ). Senior guard Christian Chavis is looking forward to this season especially now that NJ Playaz Program Director Jimmy Salmon is the new head coach.

“I am really excited about this season,” Chavis said. “Coach is emphasizing playing hard and playing together. If we do that I think we will be successful.”

Chavis has been working hard on specific parts of his game heading into this season.

“My Dad and I have been working out over the past few months, usually three to four times a week,” he said. “I believe I have improved my quickness and shooting.”

He and the rest of his team look at the Tip-Off Showcase as a big opportunity to prove themselves.

“This will be our first chance to play in a showcase event like this, so we want to do well,” said the senior guard.
