NJ Tip Off Showcase Live Blog

West Orange, New Jersey– This weekend’s main event is the NJ Tip Off Showcase, being held at West Orange High School. A lot of hype coming into the weekend, fans, media and college coaches will be treated to nine great games over the course of the weekend. Our first game is just 10 minutes away. East Orange will take on the Ghosts from Paterson Eastside. The Live blog is now open!

We saw 9 good games this weekend and saw some teams make a statement in their first action of the year. There is a lot to look forward to this winter. Linden comes out on top by a final score of 63-56. Junior Rick’Keem Mixson gets the MVP honors with 20 points. Dominic Robb had 16 for Hun. The NJ Tip Off Showcase is officially done!

Linden has opened up a double digit lead and isn’t letting down against Hun. 5 minutes left in the game and they’re up 45-33. Josh Carter has 11 for the Tigers, thanks to a strong third quarter. –@TheHoopGroup

Slow start to the second quarter for Hun. Held scoreless for the first 3 minutes of play. Dominic Robb broke the drought, however with a lay up off a nice inbound pass. Linden leads Hun 22-14.

Roselle turned on the burners and never looked back. Handled Blair with ease and showed why their the top team in New Jersey, according to NJ Hoops. Kentucky bound Isaiah Briscoe scores 23. Spencer Osborne had 13 for Blair in the loss.

Couple crowd pleasing plays in the third quarter. Elijah Burns is a lone bright spot for Blair. Meanwhile, Chris Silva is blocking everything in sight and Pierre Sarr had a monster one handed slam. Roselle up big.

One word to sum up Roselle Catholic’s first half: impressive. They dominated the first 16 minutes of play and lead Blair by a score of 40-15.

St. Anthony’s remains unbeaten in the NJ Tip Off. Markis McDuffie scored a game high 21 and Jagan Mosely added 15. Jibreel Ahmad had 12 for Newark East Side.

As good as St Pat’s defense was last game, St. Anthony’s may have one upped them. At the half they have held Newark East Side to 14 points. Markis McDuffie leads all scorers with 13. Elijah Olaniyi is the only Warrior to find offensive success for Newark, scoring 7 in the first half.

St. Anthony’s takes the floor for warms ups. They will be facing Newark East Side in our third game of the day. Leading the charge for the Friars is Markis McDuffie, Wichita State commit, and Jagan Mosely, the 101st ranked player in the class of 2016. Newark East Side will look to senior Taj Price and Ahmad Harrison to take down the Friars.

St. Pat’s held a double digit lead most of the second half and defeated Bergen Catholic. Jamir Harris was the game MVP with 16 points. Rakym Felder added 10. Pierfrncesco Oliva led BC with 12 points. Up next, St. Anthony’s vs. Newark East Side

Pierfrancesco Oliva is doing everything he can for BC. Just threw down a two handed slam, but the deficit is at 8. Sophomore transfer Nicholas Richards isn’t far from throwing down a highlight dunk of his own. Just missed on two put back already.

St. Patrick’s is young, big and talented. They get ready to play Bergen Catholic right now. Bergen’s big man Piefrancesco Oliva is a player to keep an eye on. He’s heading to St. Joe’s next year.

Zahir Newell and Isaiah Still help Union Catholic preserve a tough victory over West Orange. Newell was the game MVP with 18 points, Still had all 15 points in the second half. For West Orange, Andy Fleurantin led the way with a game high 19. Big men Jermich Boone-Alexander and Justin Winston had 10 and 11, respectively.

As the game begins to wind down, Isaiah Still is getting more involved for Union Catholic and Andy Fleurantin is stepping up in a big way for West Orange. Fleurantin has his team up 4 with 2:27 left to play.
