College Coaches Watching at Hoop Group Summer Classic East

Battle of Brotherly Love

Two powerhouse Philadelphia based AAU programs clashed as Team Final outlasted Team Philly. The game remained within 5 points until late in the second half when Austin Colbert took over in the paint throwing down two monster dunks.

Colbert had a hard time in the first half due to the strong play of Team Philly’s Amir Madrid who had 10 points.

SportsU Passes Maryland’s Finest Test

Hallice Cooke continues his stellar play after being named an All-Star at Hoop Group Elite camp last week. Cooke drained 8 threes finishing with a game high 29 points.

However SportsU trailed for a majority of the game seeing multiple double digit deficits until Spencer Weisz drilled a 3 pointer at the final buzzer to give Sports U the two point win.

Roddy Peters ran the show for Maryland’s Finest. He finished with 16 points while dishing out 7 assists.

Heat Lightning Strikes!

Hoop Heaven Heat and LI Lightning showcased two of the best backcourts in the Hoop Group Summer Classic East.

Hoop Group Elite Session 1 Most Outstanding Player, Melvin Johnson and Kareem Canty (Lightning) battled Jaren Sina (Alabama ’13) and Alex Mitola (Dartmouth ’12). The difference maker was Bucknell bound big man Dom Hoffman who led all scorers with 16 points.

The Lightning had a chance to win getting the ball out of bounds with .6 seconds left but Johnson failed to hit a rushed attempt.
