A back and forth affair finally fell in the favor of New Heights, as they were able to outlast Team Philly 54-53 in the final seconds.

New Heights opened the scoring with seven straight points, but Team Philly was able to respond with five of their own. That trend would continue throughout the game, the two teams trading runs and, in the final few minutes, leads.

A pair of guards in 2015 Dupree McBrayer and 2016 Pittsburgh verbal commit Mustapha Heron paved the way for New Heights’ second Pitt Jam Fest championship with a combined 30 points. 2014 big man Mike Nzei added 11.

Team Philly forward and Penn State verbal commit Mike Watkins played inspired basketball without filling up the stat sheet in the first half, crashing the glass on both ends and affecting shot after shot. The points would come in the second half, as he would go on to score 12 of his 14 points in the final 16 minutes. 2015 forward Dymir Logan added 11 points for Team Philly. —@AndrewKoob

Despite a big performance from 2016 guard Jeff Dowtin, New Heights was able to capture the 16U Pitt Jam Fest championship with a resounding 59-43 win over the DC Blue Devils.

No team was able to truly gain any ground on the other in the first half, with New Heights holding a four-point lead. Despite Dowtin’s second half performance, which saw him score 13 points (nine from 3-point range), New Heights was able to hold the rest of the Blue Devils to 10 points for the final 16 minutes.

New Heights 2016 guard Ty Jerome led the way for his team with 13 points. Guards Baron Goodridge and Gianni Ford added 10 points each. A.J. Barnes was the other Blue Devil to score in double digits, adding 11 to the cause. — @AndrewKoob
