Stephon Mosley and Seton Hall Prep Defeat Columbia

Stephon Mosley pinpointed one of the inherent problems with entering a tournament such as this.

“It feels good because we don’t usually play well in showcase games,” said Seton Hall Prep senior forward Stephon Mosley. “People try to showcase their own skills, but today we played like a team.”

Mosley and his Pirate teammates overmatched Columbia squad, 61-44, on Saturday night in West Orange.

Ironically, Mosley won the individual MVP for his 19-point, 10-rebound performance, but also helped to be the inside force that facilitated the guard play of fellow senior Dallas Anglin, who chipped in 10 points and five steals.

Through Mosley’s work in the post, it helped to free up Anglin, a Hofstra signee, on the perimeter, who hit back-to-back threes in the second half that helped Seton Hall Prep keep a strong lead, coming down the stretch.

And, in Mosley’s eyes, this win is translatable to the rest of the season.

“We already built that chemistry through adversity, so I think we’ll play well,” said Mosley, holding his MVP trophy. “I’ve been trying to win a championship my whole career and, now, with this group of seniors, I think we can go far.”
