Teaneck Beats St. Joseph Metuchen Behind Double-Double

It’s that old rivalry: public school vs. private school on Saturday evening at the Hoop Group Tip Off Showcase at West Orange High School.

Teaneck, led by a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds from Chris Jones, outlasted St. Joseph Metuchen, 53-49.

“It felt really good to get that first win of the season,” said Jones. “We went out there and played hard and got the win.”

Neville Fincher was a defensive force for Highwaymen, getting a huge, swooping block in the last four minutes that swung momentum in Teaneck’s favor.

He finished with seven points and seven rebounds.

“I just try to put the ball in the basket. My teammates really found me today,” said Jones. “It was a great environment. College coaches in the stands. It’s great.”

Quenton DeCosey, a Temple signee, finished with a double-double for St. Joseph Metuchen, with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
