In the early going, TNBA’s Desmond Crosby (Cleveland Central Catholic) set the tempo on both ends with disruptive D and quick first step. Armond Perry (Bedford) knocked down two early triples to give TNBA a 16-5 lead.

Quickly, High Rise Elite closed the gap. Kah Green-Younger (Biren McMahon) and Sunday Okeke(Green Farms Academy) continued their hot play this weekend. Younger hit some timely shots while Okeke got great low post position and displayed his right hook. At half, TNBA led 22-20.

Early on in the second, both teams were trading baskets. TNBA’s 6’4 lefty shooter Maishe Dailey knocked down his jumper and Okeke continued to produce for High Rise. With 7 minutes remaining, TNBA’s Lamont Rhodes(Bedford) tied it at 30-30 with a nice post move. Back to Back fast break layups by Desmond Crosby tied it at 35-35 with 4 min remaining as this title game continued to be a battle!

With 2:30 remaining, an intentional foul was called on Green-Younger, causing Crosby to nail both foul shots and push TNBA’s lead to 42-37. With 1.2 seconds remaining and TNBA leading 45-43, High Rise Elite’s Okeke went to the line for 2 but missed the first, intentionally missed the second but did not hit the rim. Andrew Fribery’s 3-pointer with just under four minutes to play put Team Takeover in front by two and, despite a nip and tuck finish, paved the way for a 67-66 win over Sports U in the 14U Division Championship Game at the 2014 Pitt Jam Fest.

Sports U jumped out to an early 10-6 lead but thanks to Fribery, who scored 17 of his game-high 25 points in the first half, the score was knotted at the half.

After the break, Fribery came out and nailed another 3-pointer and added two free throws which set the tone for the second half in Takeover’s championship-clinching victory. —@pfebbraro
