ALLENTOWN, PA – After a tight first half, Hudson Catholic took control early in the third quarter and went on to top Freedom 53-46 in the final game of the Lehigh Valley Hoop Group Showcase at Parkland High School.

Reggie Cameron (6’8”/Class of 2013) led the Hawks (18-1) with 19 points while David Williams (6’6”/Class of 2014) scored16 for the Patriots (11-7).

In the first half it seemed that the Hawks allowed poor offensive production to hamper their defense and that allowed the Patriots to keep the game close.

“In the second half our defensive pressure changed the game,” said Cameron, who will attend Georgetown next season. “Early in the game we were forcing a lot of shots. In the second half we ran our sets all the way through and we were able to get to the foul line.”

Hawks coach Nick Marinello agreed with his star forward on the early struggles.

“Early our bad offense turned into bad defense and they took advantage of it,” he said, “they are a very well coached team.

“But we have a lot of work to do. We have a whole half of the season left and we are not playing our best basketball at the biggest time of the year.”
