Summer Jam Fest Champions

With Summer Jam Fest ending two days ago, we take a chance to reflect back on our four champions. With over 250 teams entering and only four teams being named champs, the odds of walking out of Spooky Nook were not favorable, but these teams managed to beat those odds and for that we recognize them as champions!

14U- Baltimore Elite
Baltimore Elite was one of the higher seeded teams coming in and showed why Saturday and Sunday. With a first round bye to start Saturday, they racked up 2 more wins on Saturday and had a date with Team Sizzle in the Final Four set for Sunday. Elite took down a very good Team Sizzle squad and then road that momentum to a championship as they beat Team Felton. An impressive showing, we congratulate Baltimore Elite!

15U- DC Thunder
15U DC Thunder found themselves in another Hoop Group championship game after falling in the Summer Classic East Final just days before. The Thunder would be in favor of this result a little more as they bested the York Ballers in the championship. DC found themselves down early, but produced a 11-2 run that got them back in the game. They eventually got a lead and held onto it for good, sinking their free throws down the stretch to seal the victory. Congratulations DC Thunder!

16U- DC Thunder
The 16U DC Thunder did not lose a game over the span of five days. Just like their 15U squad, they found themselves back in the championship after getting there in Kin of Prussia. Unlike the 15s however, the 16s came in as SCE champions and looked to head home with two trophies. In a championship match against Burlington ISBA, the Thunder found themselves victors by dominating the offensive glass. Second and third chances gave them a seven point lead at the half and an even 2nd half led to a 65-58 win for DC. An incredible week for them, we tip our hats to this talented 16U DC Thunder squad.

17U- Expressions Elite
Expressions made a run to the final by beating some of the hottest teams at Summer Jam Fest. PK Flash, JB Hoops and ICC Truth have two things in common: they all had great performances this past weekend and all were knocked out by Expressions. Led by several key players such as Aaron Falzon and Tyrique Jones, Expressions was able to handle every team’s best shot and find their way to a title. Congratulations Expressions Elite!
