HG Insider Spotlight: Tyson Etienne

Class of 2019 guard Tyson Etienne from the PSA Cardinals performed well in the July live period. He finished the last week of July with five new offers in Saint Louis, Auburn, Ole Miss, Oklahoma and St. John's. HG Insider did a Q&A with Etienne on the latest with his recruitment and more.

Q: You have finished the live period off well in Las Vegas. What's it like to finishing off your AAU season this way?

A: “I just stayed positive the whole day, encouraged my teammates, played tough on the defensive end and started to catch fire. From there it was just confidence.”

Q: Who are some of the schools that have jumped into the mix for you?

A: “I've started to pick up some more offers and interest from schools. Auburn has been contacting me a lot, they are really involved right now, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, St. John's, Virginia and some more just jumped into the mix.”

Q: Which schools have been contacting you consistently?

A: “All the schools recruiting me are all pretty much consistently contacting me, but VCU, Seton Hall, UMass, Illinois, Cincinnati and Maryland are the main schools that are contacting me consistently.”

Q: What has Cincinnati's message been to you since recruiting you?

A: “I love Cincinnati and I love Coach Cronin as a coach. He's a good coach, his teams are hardnosed and that's the type of player that I am. I like their program and we'll see where it goes from there.”

Q: Seton Hall has been very active in your recruitment. What do you like about the Pirates?

A: “I'm from New Jersey so I took an unofficial visit there. They had nice facilities and I loved the coaching staff. They were really supportive with Coach Williard and Coach Billmeier. They are all great guys and I really enjoy them.”

Q: What visits do you have planned for the rest of summer?

A: “I just took an unofficial visit to VCU today. As far as any other visits, I'm sitting down with my family and my coach to see who I want to take an unofficial visit to this month and September.”

Q: What are some of your goals this high school season?

A: “My goals for this season are to just go out and give everything my all. From pre-season workouts, to practice and to games. I want to leave a legacy and a winner because this is my final go around. What comes in the process is what comes, I'll leave the rest to God.”
