Weekly basketball instruction programming is offered at Hoop Group Headquarters throughout the year. Programming is open to boys and girls grades K-12. All of our weekly basketball instruction take place in Neptune, New Jersey, inside our premier basketball facility. Programs are designed to develop players skills in vast areas of the game suitable for the novice to elite. Former Division 1 head coaches Tiny Green and Mike Rice use drills to help players of all levels increase their game.

Instruction Programs Offer:

Led by former NCAA Division 1 Assistant Coach Tiny Green and former NCAA Division I Head Coach Mike Rice

  • Consistent training over a 5 week period
  • Proper Training for All Skill Levels
  • Training during the Fall, Winter and Spring season
  • Limited to certain number of participants to insure maximum instruction

Boys and Girls | Grades 2 - 12

Coach "Tiny" Green is the President of Nothing But Skills (NBS) based out of South Brunswick. Coach Green is also a former associate head coach at Division I schools Fairleigh Dickinson, Hofstra, and St. Bonaventure. Coach Green has coached numerous players selected by the NBA and European leagues. He has coached in 7 NCAA tournaments. Coach Green achieved All-American status as a player at Upsala College.

Point Guard School

Boys and Girls | Grades 3 - 9

The point guard position is the most difficult position to play on the court. Like a quarterback in football, the point guard must be aware of all the elements of the game. He must be able to initiate his team's offense while taking care of the ball and making sure all of his teammates are aware of their responsibilities. The best point guards think pass first and can create scoring opportunities for the players around them while still being able to score themselves.

Sessions Include

Rookie Roundballers

Boys and Girls | Grades K - 2

Our Rookie Roundballers program is designed to teach the most basic fundamentals of the game to the games' youngest players. Our aim is to help very young players learn to love to play the game while developing the most basic skills that will provide them with a foundation to build upon as they grow up into the sport. The focus in Rookie Roundballers is to offer each participant an opportunity to learn to dribble, pass and, shoot the ball while learning the basics of offensive and defensive footwork.

Sessions Include

Have Fun and Love to Play

Learn to Dribble with both hands, jump stop, and properly shoot a lay up

Learn how to pass and the importance of playing as a team

Individual Youth League

Boys & Girls | Grades 3-6

Now in it's 9th year, the Individual Youth League is one of our most popular Youth Instructional Programs. Designed for recreation to travel level players, grades 3 to 7, the Individual Youth League provides a perfect balance of skill development with competitive game play.

Sessions Include

First segment, players are put through drills to improve their ball handling, passing, footwork, shooting form, 1 vs. 1 play and overall conditioning.

Second segment, the players are divided into teams and they compete against one another in a 4-quarter game.

Core Skills

Boys and Girls | Grade 3-9

The Core Skills Training program is a comprehensive basketball workout designed similar to a basketball practice to help every player develop their individual offensive skills. Players who commit to the Core Skills Training program will become more competitive, improve their self esteem, and enhance their leadership skills. All players will leave the Core Skills with an understanding of the work ethic necessary to improve continuously throughout their career as well as an appreciation of the types of drills that are required to compete at the highest level possible.

Sessions Include

Situational walk throughs and training

Stationary and dynamic ball handling drills

Repetition to build confidence

Ball Handling and Shooting

Boys and Girls | Grades 3 - 9

Features an option to enroll in individual sessions or a combined Ball Handling and Shooting program designed to transform players into an offensive threat. Build confidence handling the ball and learn proper shooting techniques.

Sessions Include

Breakdown shooting demonstrations and training

Two-ball dribbling and individual ball handling workouts

Situational drills to leanr how to perform with pressure and put yourself in scoring possition

Focus on body control and balance

Optional working lunches and early-bird workouts

Boys and Girls | Grades 2 - 12

Coach Rice has 22 years of Division 1 coaching experience. He has coached at Rutgers, Robert Morris, Pittsburg, St. Joes, Niagra, Chicago State, and Fordham and has been apart of producing over 30 NBA players. He is currently the Head Coach for the nationally recognized AAU program, Team Rio. Coach Rice played collegiately at Fordham University and was a three year captain.

Shooting Lab

Boys ONLY | Grades 3 - 9

Break down the most valuable skill set in basketball; Shooting. Whether it is form, footwork or follow through, we teach your son the right way to become an effective shooter.

Sessions Include

Learn how to score off the bounce

Practice reading the defense off the catch and recognizing when to drive or quick pull up

Learn how to be creative and properly use screens

Master footwork, set up and shot selection to become an effective shooter

Learn, compete and develop with Coach Mike Rice, a Former Division 1 Head Coach. Coach Rice has coached over 30 NBA players and specializes in player development helping your son become a more confident basketball player.

Breakdown drills to enhance offensive and defensive instincts

Enhance your overall basketball IQ through situational drills and competitive games

Learn how to play with poise and purpose

Improve your court vision and learn how to effectively communicate on offense and defense

Small Group Training

With the new statement issued by Governor Murphy, HGHQ is excited to welcome its players back into the gym for small group training sessions. Sessions will last an hour and 15 minuets and feature the same high quality instruction WITHOUT CONTACT.
