Sportika was the place to be this weekend for our annual Metro Fall High School Showcase. The nation's best prospects were on display with a loaded field of teams from Las Vegas to Massachusetts. Listed below are some of the best performances of the weekend!
Saturday Storylines
Early Morning Fireworks
Sportika was electric Saturday morning with massive performances from Zane Conlon of Devon Prep and Jaylen Sims of Bayonne. Conlon finished with double-doubles in both games and shut down the gym with a viral transition dunk. Jaylen Sims showed potential as a three-level scoring threat, long term prospect in the class of 2027.
Point Guards Stood Out
If you wanted to win games on Saturday a dominant point guard was the key. Jayden Holman averaged 20+ for an undefeated Linden squad, Richie Rosa led St. Peter's Prep to a major win over Archbishop Wood, and Micah Gordon put on a show for Plainfield to close the day.
Watch Out for Archbishop Wood
Missing two starters, Archbishop Wood came up short in battles against The Patrick School and St. Peter's Prep, however their underclassmen trio caught the attention of many in attendance. With recent transfer Caleb Lundy, 6'9 big-man Jadyn Jenkins, and Top 25 freshman Rowan Phillips, the Vikings will once again be towards the top of the PCL.
Teaneck Making Noise
Behind an average 30-point margin of victory Teaneck is poised for a massive season. With an aggressive backcourt of Mickell Taylor Jr and Ty Carnegie the Highwaymen have the skill to play with anyone.
Under the Radar Prospect
Recent transfer Najaj Hines had the whole gym asking, "who's the big kid at Plainfield?" Standing 6'8 with a muscular frame Hines impressed with his mobility, defensive presence, and powerful dunks, Hines is a name that should be on scholarship radars.
Sunday Storylines
Imhotep is still Imhotep
With an all-star lineup featuring senior Carnell Henderson, Zaahir Muhammad Gray, Latief Lorenzano, and Zion Green, Imhotep battled to wins over St. Rose and Union Catholic. With junior point guard RJ Smith returning from injury soon, Imhotep will once again be the team to beat in Philly.
2026s Stars
Top 100 prospects Hodge of St. Rose and Aiden Derkack of Colonia backed their reputations with stellar performances on Sunday. Derkack had multiple 20-point games featuring several acrobatic finishes. Hodge was simply the best player in the gym on Sunday, scoring in every way imaginable including dunks over multiple defenders.
D1 Commits Face Off
Rutgers Prep vs The Patrick School was one of the best games of the weekend featuring several D1 commits and even more prospects. For The Patrick School, Illinois commit Brandon Lee had a Big Ten performance knocking down multiple jumpers and locking up whoever he was guarding. Rutgers Prep forward and Marist commit Myles Parker put on a show with several 3's and a SportsCenter level dunk.
Don't Sleep on West Catholic
Fast, fearless, and one of the toughest teams you'll find, West Catholic had impressive wins over Union Catholic and Colonia Sunday. Whether it's high-level guard play in Saaid Lee, Jayvon Byrd, and Rahmir Speaks, or 2026 big men duo Kingston Wheatley and Jayln Hopkins, what makes West Catholic dangerous is they beats you by committee.
2028 Star at Union Catholic
Union Catholic has had massive success the past two years with senior trio AJ Altobelli, FK Muntari, and Yaw Ansong, however freshman Malik Moore made his presence known Sunday afternoon. With several crafty finishes, outside jumpers, and highlight reel dunks, showed why he will be a name to watch over the next several years.
