HGSL Player Spotlight

2025 Myles Parker (NJ Panthers)

Grassroots Team: NJ Panthers HGSL

High School: Rutgers Prep (Somerset, NJ)

Height: 6'7"

GPA: 3.5

Class of 2025 prospect, Myles Parker, has quickly become a household name in the Hoop Group Showcase League. The 6'7'' Junior wing from Rutgers Prep in Somerset, NJ recently helped the NJ Panthers (2021 HGSL Champions) to a 9-4 record in the HGSL this spring.

Parker, who owns a 3.5 GPA in the classroom, recently picked up his first Division 1 offer from Boston University and after the first Division 1 live period of 2024 he picked up an offer from Marist College. It is also worth noting that both programs have strong New Jersey connections with several coaches having played/coached in high school or played/coached at the college level in the Garden State.

I recently spoke to Myles about his first scholarship offers, overall recruitment, his goals for July and more!

BP: Congratulations on your first 2 offers! Who from Boston and Marist have you heard from most and what has been their message?

MP: The head coach, Coach (Joe) Jones and Coach (Curtis) Wilson from Boston have been talking to me the most. Coach (Dalip) Bhatia from Marist has been talking to me for a while now. Both have said they want to continue watching me throughout June and July and Marist wants to have me come to campus to meet the guys on the team.

BP: What other schools have been in contact with you throughout the winter and spring?

MP: Princeton, Bucknell, Lafayette, Penn, Holy Cross, Navy, and Lehigh have all be in contact. Lehigh recently visited me at school during lunch.

BP: How has the experience been playing with the NJ Panthers HGSL team?

MP: It's been great. I've been playing with the Panthers since my freshman year. They're like a big family. They also have a ton of connections and the coaches really care about you. The practices are high level and prepare you to compete at a high level.

BP: With the June and July live periods approaching what are you looking to accomplish?

MP: I want to show that I am a better leader. I want to be more vocal. I've been on teams with a lot of seniors but now I am one of the older guys so I want to lead the younger guys.

BP: What should people know about Myles Parker on and off the court?

MP: On the court I am a 3 and D type wing. I can shoot the ball off the dribble or catch and I can guard the 2-4 at a high level. Off the court I am a high academic person. Academics come first. I want to go to a high academic school with a good basketball environment. And I want to make my teammates better on and off the court.

Myles Parker will be playing with Rutgers Prep during the June Scholastic Live Period in New Jersey and Philadelphia. Coaches can also see him in July at the Atlantic City Jam Fest (July 10-12) and Summer Jam Fest/HGSL Finals at Spooky Nook PA (July 13-14).
