Class of 2020 big man
Cliff Omoruyi has committed to Rutgers University. The Roselle Catholic (NJ) standout chose the Scarlet Knights over Arizona State and Auburn. Omoruyi did a Q&A with the Hoop Group on why he decided to stay in-state for college.
Q: Why did you decide on Rutgers?
A: "The reason I committed to Rutgers was because I'm familiar with the coaching staff, the players as well as the athletic director."
Q: What is it going to be like staying at home in New Jersey and playing in front of your home crowd?
A: "It's going to be really fun playing at home. It's a great place for me to work on my game so I'm excited."
Q: How tough of a decision was this for you?
A: "It was tough because all three schools were what I was looking for in a school. It was really tough."
Q: It's been quite a journey for you since you arrived in the United States. What has this all been like for you?
A: "It's been great, there's been a lot of ups and downs. I just kept working and got where I'm at today."
Q: What's your message to Rutgers fans?
A: "I'm going to be a player who works hard, plays defense and I'm ready to win."
