Caleb Dorsey had a breakout performance at the PSA Cardinals Showcase yesterday. The Hill School (P.A.) junior did it all from attacking the rim to hitting shots from three. He spoke to HG Insider on his recent improvement, what schools are involved in his recruitment and more.
Q: You took a tough loss here, but you performed well. What was your game plan going into this one?
A: “They are definitely a good shooting team and our main focus was to stop them from shooting those threes. We also wanted to attack them since so I think we did a good job in the first half, but we kind of fell off our game plan in the second half.”
Q: You've improved a great deal recently. What would you attribute that to?
A: “My main thing was that I had to get better at getting to the rim and finishing as well as handling the ball. Now that I'm playing point guard I had to get better so I started playing more on the ball.”
Q: What would you say are your strengths and weaknesses?
A: “I think I get to the rim pretty well so that's definitely been a strength for me. Free throws are normally a strength, but not today so I'm working on that. I'd say I'm a good shooter, but I am still working on that.”
Q: What schools are in the mix for you?
A: “I've recently been offered by American and I've been talking to Yale, Lehigh, Lafayatte and a lot of Patriot League schools. I've visited Georgetown, Temple, and schools like that also.”
Q: Who are some of the other schools that have expressed interest in you?
A: “Teams like West Virginia, Brown, Princeton and some more. I can't remember the rest off the top of my head.”
Q: As people get to see you more this season what are some things they are going to learn about you?
A: “I hate losing so I'm going to compete as hard as I can and hopefully get the outcome that I want. I'm a good teammate and I look for them because I'm unselfish. You are going to get a hard worker and an unselfish player.”
Q: What goals do you have for this high school season?
A: “I definitely want to win a state championship and win the MAPL League. Hopefully, we can get that done because last year we won the state championship, but lost the MAPL.”
