No matter what event it is Villanova commit Eric Dixon is going to give it his all. The class of 2019 WeR1 (P.A.) power forward had a strong weekend from start to finish and showed why he is so highly touted. He played a huge role in them taking home the Southern Jam Fest 17u Championship. HG Insider spoke to him about this season on the circuit, his recent commitment to Villanova and much more.

Q: With some of the best teams in all three circuits here, what are you looking to prove here?
A: “We are here to show that we are one of the best teams out of any brand. Everyone here is bringing their all and we just want to show why we are one of the best teams in the country.”
Q: With you already being committed to Villanova, what is it like playing out there without having to worry about your recruitment?
A: “It really is different because it goes along with AAU basketball. Sometimes when you play you think of the potential offers that can come when you play well. Now that I'm committed I'm playing just focused on getting better and getting wins.”
Q: What has Jay Wright's message been to you and what has he said to work on?
A: “Now it's just work hard, continue to get in better shape and become more of a student of the game.”
Q: What is his and the rest of the coaching staff's plan for you there?
“He wants to develop me and be the best I can be in all aspects of the game. He wants me to come in and contribute right away. He sees me as a power forward and not much a five-man. He also said he wants me to show off my perimeter game.”
Q: What would you say makes this WeR1 team as special as it is?
A: “I would really just say it is our friendship. We are all friends off the court, play video games together and all of that. We also keep in touch during the school season and we all want each other to be successful.”
