What more can be said about
ADDY NYEMCHEK of RED BANK CATHOLIC. She has cemented herself as the best two-way player in the state of New Jersey. Last season Addy Nyemchek was First Team All Defense. This year is the The HOOP GROUP DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR. She is the most versatile defender we have seen in recent history. She cannot only defend all five positions. She can play stopper at all five. Her quick thinking and ability to adapt to any game plan was a thing of beauty. Her active hands resulted in deflections and steals against some of the very best players in the state. She had 87 steals on the season. She played the role of the ultimate stopper in the biggest of moments. She is murder on the ball using her length and quickness. She is a loose ball junkie. Diving for loose balls is in her DNA. But it's her ability to play on the weak side and rotate that truly makes her special. She is an elite shot blocker and shot changer. Her ability to get back in transition is simply next level, nobody is in her world in the area. She was a nightmare in the front of the RBC press defense, forcing lobs for teammates to steal, while being the architect of double teams on the ball. Now throw in the fact she is one of the best defensive rebounders in the state.
"Her length, vision, and IQ allows her to disrupt the opponent. She has already set school record for deflections and has led team in rebounds last two years. Her timing and ability to block and alter shots is elite" RBC Head Coach, Joe Montano
Addy Nyemcheck had over 180 rebounds and now you understand why ADDY NYEMCHEK is the best defender in all of New Jersey. Her ability to clean up defensive mistakes below the foul line is breathtaking at times. She is a master at stepping in passing lanes on the wing. Her show stopping steal in the SCT late in the game will go down as one of the biggest moments in SCT history. Like all great defenders Addy Nyemchek has turned the lights out on some of the very best players in the state. She was that rare player that impacted the game on the defensive end of the floor. In fact she was the only play
with the ability to take over games games
on the defensive end of the floor. This is rare air that she is playing the game in. Only a junior, she has a chance to become only the 2nd two time Defensive Player of the Year. For now THE HOOP GROUP 2025 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR will be enough. Congratulations to ADDY NYEMCHEK OF RED BANK CATHOLIC.
